No Secret School Surveys

Your child fills out a survey at school about their feelings, their body, their identity or their home life. You are never told. You never agreed. And you may never see the questions or the answers.

This happens in Victorian government schools right now. Wellbeing and identity surveys are handed to children without a word to their parents. Personal questions are asked. Sensitive answers are collected. Families are left in the dark.

When a school gathers private information from your child, you have a right to know. You have a right to see the questions. You have a right to say no.

The demand is simple. No survey without written parental consent.

I will fight to ban wellbeing and identity surveys of children in Victorian government schools unless parents give written consent first. Parents informed. Parents in control. Every time.

These are not radical ideas. They are the basics of a school working with families, not around them:

  • Parents are told before any wellbeing or identity survey is given to their child.
  • Parents can read the full survey before deciding.
  • No child is surveyed without a parent’s written consent.
  • Families can see how their child’s information is stored and used.

Parents are not the enemy. Parents are the first people who should be asked.

Sign the petition. Put parents back in the room.
