Tell Parents First

Parents deserve to know what happens to their own children at school. Right now, Victorian government schools can change a child’s name, pronouns or social identity without ever telling mum or dad. A parent can send their child to school one day and have no idea that, behind closed doors, that child is being socially transitioned by staff.

This is not about politics. It is about trust. When a school keeps something this serious from the people who love a child most, that trust is broken. Parents are not the enemy. Parents are the first people who should be told.

The demand is simple. Schools must tell parents first.

I am calling on the Victorian Government to require every government school to notify a child’s parents before that child’s name, pronouns or social transition is changed at school. No secrets. No exceptions hidden from families. Parents informed, every time.

These are not radical ideas. They are the basics of a school working with families, not around them.

Sign the petition. Tell the government that parents come first.
